Nestled in a Book

I love Romance, New Adult, and Erotica books. I love sharing the books and authors that I love with people who have that in common or others who might not have ever known about them.

Mystery Man (Dream Man)

Mystery Man - Kristen Ashley Another solid book by Kristen Ashley! Man, can this girl write. I love all of her strong, burly, no-nonsense men. I need a drink after Hawk.

Gwendolyn 'Gwen' Kidd does something one night that is completely unlike her. She brings home a man from a bar without even learning his name. He leaves her with mind-blowing sex and nothing more. But he keeps returning in the middle of the night, ravishing her and then retreating back into the shadows. This goes on for a year and a half. That is, until her sister, Ginger - notorious trouble-maker, finally makes more trouble for herself than she can handle.

Ginger has finally pissed off one too many people and now she's wanted, at any cost. Gwen seeks out Ginger's boyfriend, Dog, only to find out that he's now an ex and she's wanted by his motorcycle club as well. She's stolen millions and screwed them royally. Gwen's mystery man has no choice but to interfere when it becomes a likely possibility that Gwen could be in imminent danger, seeing as she's an obvious way to get to her sister. Luck for her, protection of this kind is his specialty.

Enter Cabe 'Hawk' Delgado. Gwen's Mystery Man and ass-kicking badass. Except now he's not such a mystery and she's not so sure she likes this bossy jerk that the daylight brings out. And what's more surprising than the fact that eighteen months have gone by and she doesn't know anything about him, is that he seems to know everything about her.

He planted his hands on his hips and leaned back into my face. "Yeah, Gwen, I know your name. Gwendolyn Piper Kidd. Thirty-three years old. Self-employed, freelance editor. You pay your taxes on time, your mortgage on time and your bills on time. Married once for two years to a man who couldn't keep his dick in his pants and who has since married three other women and is currently engaged in his fourth divorce. Your father is Baxter Kidd, ex-Army, current construction foreman, married to Meredith Kidd, executive secretary to the hotshot divorce attorney who, incidentally, pulled your shit outta that mess you got into with that asshole. You hang with Camille Antoine who works with dispatch for Denver PD and Tracy Richmond who works everywhere, mostly retail. You string along Troy Loughlin, who'd kill to get in your pants but you have no clue and he has no balls. Your sister is the definition of loser. You spend too much on clothes. When you go out, you show too much skin. And the only man you've fucked for a year and a half is me."

When Gwen is tossed into such situations as drive-bys, firebombings, and kidnappings, they are forced together. And not only does she have Hawk's attention, but she's also garnered the attention of the detective for her case, Lawson, as well as the head of the Chaos motorcycle club, Tack.

With her girlfriends, Cam and Tracy, her friend Troy (who may or may not also be in love with her), her dad and her stepmom, Gwen does her best to survive the chaos that has infiltrated her life courtesy of her disowned sister. And Hawk doesn't exactly help her keep a clear head.

He tenderly slid the backs of his knuckles against the skin of my cheek while he muttered, "A year and a half. Totally fuckin' missed out."

But Hawk has a brutal and painful past that comes back to haunt him as Gwen's life dissolves inter utter chaos. It is a pain so unbearable that he ends his relationship with Gwen before it's ever really had a chance to begin. But Gwen has started to fall and she doesn't take that lying down.

"Gwen -" he started. I shook my head. "No, you said what you had to say. And you proved my point. I have no fucking clue how to live my life. I'm not special to you no matter what my instincts and those butterflies I got in my stomach every time I saw you before we became us, but mostly after, told me. And you're not special either, precisely because you made me feel like shit, again, and I listened to my heart, followed my instincts and allowed it to happen. The decisions I make are whacked. Point made. Lesson learned. I can't trust my gut so I'm going to live in my head. Lucky for you, we're over and you don't have to watch me doing it."

Ginger's situation finally hits it's climax though and Gwen and Hawk are left to figure out if what they started a year and half ago is worth fighting for. You have to pick up this book and find out what happens in this heart-racing story. Can you ever really go wrong with Kristen Ashley? If you can, I haven't discovered it yet.
